Preventive screening, the key to good sexual health!

Preventive screening is essential to maintaining good sexual health. By quickly identifying sexually transmitted disease / sexually transmitted infection (STD/STI), preventive screening enables early treatment, reducing the risk of serious complications and transmission to others.

Many STIs can be asymptomatic, making regular screening crucial for detecting silent infections. By taking a proactive approach with regular screenings, individuals can protect their health and that of their partner(s, while promoting a safer, more sexually responsible environment. Preventive screening is a key step towards a fulfilling, worry-free sex life.

When should you be screened for STIs?

Screening for STIs is recommended in several key situations to ensure good sexual health and prevent the transmission of infections.
Here are a few opportune moments for screening:

How does
an appointment work?

During the consultation, the nurse will assess your risk factors, taking into account your sexual habits and symptoms, if any, to determine the most appropriate screening for your situation. You will then be able to choose the tests you wish to undergo from among the options on offer. Results are provided promptly, in a confidential and respectful setting, fostering an environment where patients feel safe to discuss their sexual health.

Whatever the results of your screening tests, we will contact you promptly to provide you with full information and ensure effective follow-up.

Pre-exposure
prophylaxis (PrEP)

At our clinic, our specialized sexual health nurses and nurse practitioners offer comprehensive support for patients wishing to protect themselves against HIV through sexual pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP).

PrEP is a preventive treatment in which HIV-negative people take antiretroviral drugs to significantly reduce the risk of contracting HIV. It can be taken in two ways: daily for continuous protection, or on demand, tailored to specific periods of exposure to risk.

This service is particularly aimed at people at high risk of exposure to HIV, such as those with HIV-positive sexual partners, men who have sex with men, people who have frequent unprotected sex, and those who share drug injection equipment. Our professionals are available to assess patient eligibility, prescribe PrEP and provide ongoing medical follow-up and support.

Human
papillomavirus (HPV)

HPV (human papillomavirus) is a common infection that can lead to genital warts and several types of cancer, including cervical, anal, throat and penile cancers. At our clinic, we offer the Gardasil vaccine, which effectively protects against the most dangerous types of HPV in both men and women, for optimal prevention.

Chronic disease prevention

For anyone who is sexually active, regular screening for STIs is essential to prevent the transmission of infectious diseases and to effectively manage chronic STI-related illnesses such as hepatitis and HIV. Whether you have regular or occasional sexual relations, or are concerned about an STI, our clinic offers confidential, non-judgmental screening services. Make an appointment today to protect your health and that of your partner(s). Screening for an STI is a crucial step in ensuring rapid and effective management of infections.

Pap Test vs. STI Testing: Understanding the Difference and Best Practices

The Pap test screens for cervical cancer by detecting abnormal cells in the cervix, while STI testing identifies sexually transmitted infections. Both exams are essential for sexual health, with different purposes and frequencies. Regular Pap tests are recommended starting at age 25, while STI testing should be done based on sexual activity and symptoms.
